A tool kit for detecting and classifying unexpected user events when operating MS-Windows applications in field testing, comprising:

A test manager, enabling the tester to specify the user tasks in form of a task tree, the scenarios as leaves of the task tree, and the GUI controls that implement the scenarios.
A dll enabling to capture the GUI controls at setup and at test time
A usability problem indicator, enabling initiation of a dialog with the user in case of an exceptional event
An intention recorder, prompting the user to specify their intentions
An activity recorder, for creating a record of the time stamped user activity.
A test analyzer, enabling matching the user activity to the record of user intentions.
